FEED-HARP

The Feed-harp is an electroacoustic instrument designed and built by me.
It is based on the feedback principle and it’s composed by 2 sections.

The first one (harp) made by a series of strings :

4 low,  5 mid and 5 high steel strings attached to a resonance structure that enhance the sound of the strings acoustically and characterizes the quality of the resulting sound.

The second (feed) made by a metallic diffuser, inspired by the Cristal Baschet, an instrument designed by Baschet brothers in 1952, upon which is installed an exciter, a particular speaker that works and produce sound on surfaces.

Both sections has been amplified electronically by a group of piezoelectric microphones, making the feedback loop between the metallic diffuser and the harp structure, connected to two jack plates on the front panel.

The intensities and the frequencies of the feedbacks generated has been controlled by an analog mixer, twisting on eqs and gains.

Analizing and testing the feedbacks in its frequencies and qualities I based the tuning of the harp section on a primary resonance frequency (126.7 hz SI 2 Monesis) of the instrument starting from its harmonic series but leaving out the order of the series and the octaves.
